“We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.”
– Bob Ross
“Every child is an artist; the problem is staying an artist when you grow up”
– Pablo Picasso
“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”
– Andy Warhol
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”
– Edgar Degas
I am a Landscape Architect and just recently retired from ECSD, where I was a Guest Teacher and Paraprofessional. I now use my extra time to work on art projects that range from oil paintings, to working with paper/mixed media.
I have been an active member of the Vail Valley Art Guild (VVAG) for the past four years. I currently run the Eagle Gallery, taking in artwork and hanging it for our 2nd Friday ARTwalks. I also maintain the VVAG website - posting events, sending email campaigns and posting on Instagram.
I work in the landscape construction industry. I attended the Colorado Institute of Art in the late 80s. Since then, I have produced artwork on and off. During COVID, I created a lot of acrylic pours. I still produce art, during the winter months, in the off-season. I like to take photographs while out 4-wheeling and driving to and from work.
I like creating acrylic pours because I don't know what it will look like until it is finished. Being partially color blind is also a challenge as I am not sure the colors contrast or go together after they mix. I never know what image will appear, if any, but I like that individuals see different things when looking at one of my paintings.
